Beautiful November 22, 2000 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
These two artists, each a master in his own style, join forces to bring us a recording that is amazingly beautiful. Their interplay is superb. On several tracks, it is even suprising to see the many ways they manage to combine their "voices" in such a perfect way. It is clear to all who listen that they had a great time while performing together. If you buy this CD, you shall become a part of that as well.

The angels in Heaven would stop to listen to McFerrin's lyrical voice. The improvisational beauty of these two great artists is amazing. McFerrin never is afraid to show the joyousness that he feels towards life. His composition, "Stars", was rythemically facinating. I borrowed this tape from the library and was loath to return it. This was my first on-line music purchase. Multiple listenings do not diminish the pleasure of this music.
Virtuosi produce beauty, grace, and fun June 20, 2000 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
This is a really fantastic album that you should definitely check out. McFerrin sparkles throughout, and the duo stirs up some really great-sounding, fun, and beautiful performances. Both men bring a certain charisma, benevolent attitude, grace, virtuosity, and musicianship that is broader than any one style to this record. I think that this recording can be appreciated by just about anybody who appreciates artistic beauty. In my opinion, McFerrin and Ma are the perfect model of what a modern, classically-trained musician should be like. The ablum is a mix of McFerrin's cool-sounding, gesture-filled, very accessible originals, classical pieces, and lighter numbers, including a really funny intro to Bach's Musette. This version of Bach's Air (on the G String) is sublime in its beauty and grace. Very highly recommended.
Jazz Meets Classical. March 23, 2000 3 out of 4 found this review helpful
I don't remember how I heard about this cd, but I am a casual fan of McFerrin's. I know he is viewed as a cheesy on hit wonder in America for 1988's "Don't Worry Be Happy", but the fact is that he is a very talented jazz singer. An original. No one else is like McFerrin. The idea to have him work with classical cellest Yo Yo Ma was brilliant. This is one of those recordings that you know will never be duplicated, an original. Every track is a smart blend of Bobby's vocals and Ma's cello. The songs they chose to cover are varied and interesting. This is an unusual must have for any rock collector.
Fabulous! July 16, 1999 4 out of 5 found this review helpful
I have bought this on impulse - and am I glad I did! Since I listened to it for the first time I have given it to my Mother and to my 7 years old niece - and both have loved it! It is impossible to love music and not love this album! Give it to all your friends, but keep one for your own pleasure!
