Product Description JVC is one of the world's leading developers and manufacturers of sophisticated audio, video and related software products. Amazon.com Product Description Weighing just under 36 pounds yet still packing 300 watts of total power, the JVC MX-KB30 makes an ideal companion for small living rooms and offices, or for portable locations such as the backyard or beach. The system includes a pair of three-way bass reflex speakers, each with a 6.31-inch cone woofer, 2-inch cone midrange, and 0.81-inch dome tweeter. The combined audio oomph fills up a room, and gives equal attention to high, mid, and low frequencies. The system's audio sources trace to the three-disc CD carousel (compatible with CD and CD-R/RW formats), the AM/FM tuner (30 FM and 15 AM presets), and the dual dubbing cassette deck. The latter component features full-logic controls for superior performance and the coordinating capacity of CD synchro recording (ensures that recorded tapes synch up to their CD sources). The system also offers play exchange; a programmable wakeup and sleep timer; a demo mode; Compu play; continuous, random, and repeat play for one or all three discs; and a rotary encoder volume control. The listener has the choice of several individual music modes--one each for pop, rock, and classic--and can also select Active Bass Extension for a more robust sound. Signal transfer is coordinated by the 1-bit dual DAC. The system is designed as a standalone unit, though it does include a front auxiliary input and a headphone jack. What's in the Box Main unit, speakers, remote control, user's manual.

The speakers of the system are the REAL DEAL! January 5, 2009 Here is what i did. Hooked the speakers up to an old technics receiver from 1977. What a Sound along with my computer these sound better than a pair of Curtis Mathes 12in speakers i have. Just awesome sound! It really sounds like i have a sub going i guess jvc really did there homework on these. Best 6in speaker i have ever herd! The stereo is self is not bad too good sound with a pair of sony floor speakers. If your looking for a good shelf system i would buy it. If you want the best sounding 6in speakers you have ever herd i would buy it and do exactly what i did. Just plain Awesome!!! My hats off to Jvc.
A Decent Machine March 6, 2007 I've had this player for about 3 years now, I think. It's served me well. My only problems with it are that you can't change the AM/FM tuner from the remote, but can only switch from preset to preset. So if you like cruising the stations without having to get up and interact with the actual machine, this isn't the radio for you. Also, I noticed that the CD player on mine seems finicky. It'll take some CDs, and not others. But the CDs it won't take play fine on any other player in my house. I put this down to extreme sensetivity to scratches, but maybe it's just my unit. Overall, it's a 4 star machine. 4 stars because the sound really is great.
Great Sounding Stereo System! November 2, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had mine for 2 years and is a great unit, but the CD player isn't that great. A lot of my CDs skip, but does a good job playing some of my homemade CDs. The cassette player broke after 2 months. It has great sound though and the FM reception is great. Using speaker wire as an antenna I get stations very clearly. So I give it 3 stars.
