First rate inspiration! March 6, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Alex Bugnon displays a wide range of creativity through this interesting compilation. Although my favorite tracks are Elis, Head over wheels,. Earth interlude, Missing you and Winnie, I must agree the warmth, ferrous inspiration and denoted style that makes of this album one your favorite ones since the moment you listen it.
The shiznit! March 11, 2005 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Alex Bugnon is the absolute shiznit, every cd has it's own flavor. His cd's are like lay's potato chips you can't buy just one.
"Love Season" extended July 9, 2002 "Head Over Heels" is very similar to Alex Bugnon's previous release, "Love Season." The album is a bit more jazzy than the R&B-infused "Season," and it has a gospel track at its end, "Human Epilogue." The distinctive Bugnon style is apparent on every track. There's not as much to love here compared to the sublime "Love Season;" missteps include the title track and "Dance of the Ghosts," both of which try too hard to be funky and fail miserably. The musical gems "Elis," "Missing You," and "No Other Love" make up for the aforementioned bad tracks. Bugnon's uncle, famed trumpeter Donald Byrd, makes an appearance on the standout track "Winnie." "Head Over Heels" is probably more essential for Bugnon fans than casual listeners. If you fall into the latter category, do yourself a favor and try "Love Season" first.
A Definite Must-Have for Alex Bugnon fans! October 1, 2000 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This 1990 release cemented Alex's rise to star status. Most of the artists who participated on this project went on to do their own solo projects including Keith Robinson and Vincent Henry. Favorite songs on this cd include the remake of "Any Love" by Luther Vandross featuring Marcus Miller. "Elis" featuring Vincent Henry on alto sax and "Missing You" a song that showcases Mr. Bugnon's keyboard mastery. "Head Over Heels" is guaranteed to keep your toes tapping and head nodding. I highly recommend this cd for fans of Alex Bugnon and smooth jazz in general.
