What a precious piece February 2, 2009 I had heard about this movie, actually my parents had talked about it a couple of times, but I really had no idea what it was about. I finally saw it and, boy, what a cool movie!
Nicely directed by Henry Koster HARVEY demonstrates great imagination, something that I'm starting to notice with newer films today. It was written with sensitivity by Mary Chase and Oscar Brodney.
James Stewart in the lead role is just great. He always was in all of his movies.
This one was a special imaginative undtertaking
Gotta love a 6 ft. 3 and 1/2 foot imaginary rabbit January 27, 2009 Love Jimmy Stewart in this classic movie, but then, we own an oversized giant white stuffed rabbit named Harvey who graces our Colorado Springs bed and breakfast inn, Holden House. It's a funny, sad and a view on life of what is "normal". Elwood is happy in his world, others want to change him. But Jimmy Stewart as the main character with his imaginary friend seems to have a better take on life than most of those around him. A classic to be cherished.
childhood revisited January 22, 2009 I loved this fanciful movie as a child and really believed Harvey was right there, and I could even see him in my mind's eye. As my daughter was growing up I introduced her to Jimmy Stewart and Harvey, and she fell in love with it, too. This year, in this time of fantastic computer graphics that has replaced simpler times and virtually done away with imagination, I bought the old film for my grandchildren. Children will always be dreamers. They got it!
Harvey a funny heart warming movie, truly a classic January 7, 2009 I watched this movie with my son (who is 24 years old) and his friend. We all were laughing all the way through the movie and it was a great movie with a mixture of comedy and a heart warming feel. It was great for all, even my son who had never even heard of the movie. James Stewart was great.
"He's a pooka!" January 6, 2009 James Stewart is excellent in the role of Elwood P. Dowd. Harvey comes to life in this film version of Mary Chase's play, Harvey and brings with him a valuable lesson on acceptance and what true happiness is.
