Album Description Japanese only SHM-CD (Super High Material CD - playable on all CD players) pressing. Universal. 2008.
Amazon.com For all his tattoos and bulked-up frat-boy persona, singer Bradley Nowell had real soul, which made his fatal heroin overdose even more tragic. There's more to this Long Beach, California, trio's debut, released shortly after Nowell's death in 1996, than white suburban punks imitating Jamaican ska music. The band comes up with great songs, notably the catchy MTV hit "What I Got"; spooky dub-reggae undertones, produced by the Butthole Surfers' Paul Leary, to go with the snappy horns; and surprisingly progressive lyrics that attack sexism and other social ills, especially on "Wrong Way." Like the Red Hot Chili Peppers and Fishbone, obvious forebears, Sublime become slightly tiresome after 17 songs, but the band is great in short doses. --Steve Knopper

never gets old July 1, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
one of my first cds i ever bought, been listening to it for years and it never gets old.
Self-titled standards May 13, 2009 Sublime refined that unique LBC sound they synthesized to its greatest effect on their final studio album before Nowell's untimely departure. There may be slight problems with individual tracks here and there, but the entire disc is well-rounded, completely musically accessible, and totally lyrically relatable in a way hardly any open-minded young rockers could resist upon arrival.
Get Ready! April 12, 2009 This is an all time classic no matter what anyone says. This is something you show all your friends and family. i mean my parents even sing along to Santeria, by the way Its number 86 on Rolling Stone's Top Guitar Songs Ever. Yeah, play it again and listen closely to brads guitar in this number 1 hit. Once again this is a must have album but make sure you check out there other amazing songs. 40 oz is great and so is Robbin the hood. Also in case you didn't know this already the original title of this album was "Killin' It" but was changed to respect the passing of Brad. Im a HUGE sublime fan just thought I'd add that since everyone thinks that hardcore fans hate this album or something.
Imitation reggae for drunk white college guys with beer guts and goatees. April 8, 2009 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I was checking out the best of the 90s cds last week at the pawn shop near my house and asked the cashier what he suggested. He told me about this band called Sub Limes and I laughed at him because of the dumb name.. but anyways I went ahead and bought the Sub Limes cd and played it on my way home...what a mess!
Sub Limes doesn't have any of the awesome 90s sound to it at all! I did not find any whining about ex girlfriends...rapping about rims... or suicidal lyrics!! The lyrics had to do about unnecessary stuff that nobody can relate too!!
For good 90s music listen to music like Puff Daddy, Creed, Green Day, and Coolio!

this cd is hot. The songs are the best. One song has dirty lyrics so you don't want anyone young listening to it but other then that it rules.
