4 out of 5 stars Sets the mood for a night of sensual R&B   January 9, 2007
After R.Kelly kicked them to the crib, Public Announcement took a six year hiatus and returned on the scene. Fueled by the infectious single Body Bumpin(Yippie-Yi-Yo)and it's remix this CD is actually quite good. The group even handles Con Funk Shun's Staright From The Heart very well and would make the group proud.

5 out of 5 stars All Worked Up   May 28, 2005

Public Announcement is the group that played the background for R. Kelly's debut and this is their first coming titled All Work, No Play. It's hard to seperate the fact that they are a group all their own, but after listening to their debut it sounds as if R. Kelly is still present in "Body Bumpin' (Yippie-Yi-Yo)" and "Turn The Hands" just for starters. "It's About Time" has the same one, two kick arrangements but has a fuller, soulful chorus involved. Public Announcement is lead by writer Felony Davis and mostly produced by member Earl Robinson as they take control with many subjects and angles to make this release complete. As sexy and heartfelt as some of the titles are the title track gives an example of their talents. The release hit a high note with the "Body Bumpin' (Yippie-Yi-Yo) - R&B Remix" featuring Mingo Valentino and "Alone" for a more up tempo selection worth checking out. "Homey", a personal favoriate, that resembles a Isley Brothers tune with its guitar solo is what places this album in the elite of great albums. You couldn't have a Chicago release without a stepping song as "Y To The Yippie (Step On)" released before R. Kelly made it popular! P.A. also pays their respects to classic r&b with the remake to "Straight From The Heart". All Work, No Play has everything including desert for a full course meal.

Sorry people, but I found this album extremely boring. A smooth boring soul album with smooth boring songs and a smooth voice that doesn't stick out.

This CD is off the chain. I listen to this CD all the time. At first I didn't think I would like the CD, but after I had listened to the CD I liked it. If u like listening to slow music then u would like this CD. If u don't have it then u should go out and get it cus its off the chain.
