If you thrill to the soaring operatic voices of The Three Tenors (and imagine every Christmas comes with its own orchestral majesty), Il Divo has made this disc for you. The four GQ-handsome male singers were handpicked by American Idol's Simon Cowell for what seems to be their ability to sing opera and classical music with the hint of a pop sensibility. Their Christmas Collection features 10 standards (although the last time Santa looked, he wasn't quite sure "Over the Rainbow" and "The Lord's Prayer" were part of the Christmas canon). Still, it' hard not to imagine these emotionally stirring renditions as part and parcel of the reverential treatment the four finely sculpted voices bring to more exact seasonal fare such as "O Holy Night," "Ave Maria," "Panis Angelicus" and even "White Christmas." Dave Arch's predictable choral and orchestral arrangements are aimed right at the sweet spot where sophisticated church choir music and traditional classical music meet, with few surprises other than the dash of Irish folk music that colors "When A Child Is Born." In the end, for people who have never heard of Cowell and his cohosts (would Paula Abdul really have picked the tenor guy for this group?!), this collection will prove just as rewarding for them as the best-selling Idol records are for fans of the TV stars. --Martin Keller

 Absolutely Fabulous June 23, 2009
I first fell in love with Il Divo's music 4 years ago. And I currently own all their CD's. When I found out that they were releasing a Christmas CD, I had to have it. While I agree with some reviews that Carlos voice is the base for some of the songs, on a certain song called The Lord's Prayer, I think he over does it a bit, not that I don't like it, but still can't he let the other guys shine a little more? Over all one of the best CD's of Christmas music around, and deffiently one of the best music groups found in this Century!!!!
Absolute soul-satisfying sounds June 7, 2009
This was my first Il Divo review, just to hear Ave Maria on a recommenda-tion. I was absolutely silenced by the majestic beauty of these four voices.....their blend, their chorusing, the baritone lead is soaring! I have since tried to buy everything they have recorded. Do not miss this group if you like classical/pop music and enjoy enriching sounds!
A must for Il Divo fans May 28, 2009
The Il Divo "Christmas Collection" is an absolute joy for anyone who loves great voices and, also, for those who enjoy the Christmas season. I purchased mine in April, and, although Christmas is 8 months away, I find myself listening to it everyday. It's just too good to hear only at Christmastime.
