Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Actual title should be "Bardeux: From Dominating Divas To Ditzy Duds In One Year"   March 17, 2007
"Bold As Love", Bardeux's first album, was so amazing that I was nothing short of dangerously excited when I found out that they actually had two albums to their credit. Unfortunately, they went straight down the drain with this one. This is as bland and soulless as their first album was beautiful and captivating. Plus, this was 1989, not 1950; it was common knowledge by now that smoking is not cool (one of the songs contains a lyric in which one of the girls says something to the effect of "smoking my cigarette while I'm waiting here for you" or something like that). The only reason that I don't condemn this to the dungeon of 1-star albums is because there is no overt explicitness in it.

3 out of 5 stars sophomore album just didnt work   May 22, 2006

I saw the 1st incarnation of Bardeux about 5 times in the BayArea CA when they first debuted, and fell in love with them and the album all at the same time. Awesome women who signed autographs till everyone had one. With at least 5 singles released from the debut album it looked like they were going to stick around for awhile. For reasons unbeknown to us, Jazz was replaced, Acacia Smith stayed and Mel Taylor was brought on board. I expected a harder edge with this 2nd release; the group went from pop/dance to a more r&b/light rap sound. The first single 'I love the bass' (which sounds like 'I love to bass' when they sing) was promising but just had something missing on it ..the cd was purchased, 12" singles were bought etc, though to my knowledge they never toured to support the 2nd album. 'Shangri-la' the 2nd release barely made the radio (I never heard it) and the 3rd release 'One last kiss' tried to duplicate the sound (and success) of 'When we kiss' .. and just didnt work. Interesting titles there .. 'When we kiss' to 'One last kiss' ..perhaps that was the sign that this was 'the last album' that we were going to get from them ..the last release 'Thumbs up' failed to get radio play and went unnoticed thus closing the chapter of the girls musical endeavors ..
