Amazon.com It is a beautiful world, though perhaps not the honey-colored, sunshine-dappled landscape that the title might imply. More than blossoming flowers and gentle breezes, Patrick O'Hearn paints a picture that embraces the dank, fecund undergrowth where life is formed. His music is textural, roiling with atmosphere, but not buried in it. Joined once again by longtime musical compatriot, guitarist Peter Maunu, O'Hearn conjures up Ennio Morricone dipped in an ambient bath on tracks like "Magnificent River." His electro-grooves range from the sensual on "Facing the Sun" to the demonic on "Night Becomes Her." Taking a cue from Erik Satie simplicity, O'Hearn employs melody sparingly, as if he's hoarding the last bottle of water in the Sahara. Which makes it all the more powerful when he finally deploys it creating the crescendo of the title track. A former bassist with Frank Zappa, member of the pop band Missing Persons, and a charter member of the new age Private Music label, O'Hearn's breadth of experience has always set him apart from his peers and that's still apparent on Beautiful World. --John Diliberto

Very inspiring May 9, 2009 I own almost all his CDs and Beautiful World is among his best. Worth every penny. Very refreshing and satisfying.
very nice April 26, 2009 My honey that I ordered that music for has enjoyed listening to parts of the cd
Beautiful World by Patrick O'Hearn January 31, 2009 The music is pretty good but not as good as I thought track 5 is the best out of all of them I guess you could say it would be a good cd to listen to if you were in the mood for it
Another O'Hearn winner December 23, 2006 I have just recently listened to this CD. Being a big O'Hearn fan since first listening to "So Flows The Current", I am impressed with this CD. If you want upbeat newage music, some of O'Hearns earlier works are for you. His latter works are darker for sure, but I find them addictive. I also find his style of music original, thoughtful and hypnotic. Take for example the track "Magnificent River". It's hard for me not to listen to it several times back to back, it has hooked me. I find this effect on other O'Hearn music. I highly recommend this disc.
Nice ... June 10, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Patrick can seldom go wrong with his music. Not as fascinating as "So flows the current", but nice nevertheless.
2. Magnificent River: Very laid back slow and layered tethering on the ambient track. The Sitar adds floatation to the track. Very nice!
3. Chance: A spacey, Steve Roach style track.
4. Beautiful World: The title track. Superbly ambient start to the track. However, pretty soon fast-paced (tribal) drums kick in and they do not sync well with the overall track.
5. Night Becomes Her: Serenade! Probably the best track on the album. Just the kind of music you'd expect Patrick to compose. Beautiful electronic synth floatation. See the beautiful evening change colors in the yonder.
6. Approaching Summit: The track starts with dark overtones (Berlin Style?) with powerful ebbs & flows. If you like this track, then you'll absolutely relish Ian Boddy.
7. An Evening Sky: Very spacey track. To be honest, the cricket sounds tend to get a little irritating towards the end. This track is best forgotten.
