Covers...mmmmmmm.....YES!!!!!!!!! April 8, 2009 I really believe that this is the best cover album ever. the artist thay play in this record are the best artists that could do an Elton John Song.
buy it now!
Sting, O'conner & George Michael SHINE April 5, 2009 I love this CD. Have owned it since 1992, when I first started buying CDs. Sting's rendition of "Come Down in Time" has replaced the original for me. Sinead O'Conner's "Sacrifice" is hauntingly gorgeous singing and strikes a chord with anyone who has been through the betrayal of a lover. George Michael's "Tonight" is simple sweet agony of a man who connect with his lover anymore yet desperately yearns to. These are my favorite tracks and I'm suprised I haven't burned through the CD yet on them. Worth the price of admission for these 3 tracks alone.
2 Rooms, Elton Tribute March 28, 2009 There are two stellar tracks on this compilation, Eric Claptons' "Boarder Song" is what tribute tracks should be about, a completely different take on a classic, his vocals, production, backing tracks and solo are flawless! The other gem is Bruce Hornsbys' "Madman Across the Water" he takes advantage of all the great melody lines of the original, both vocally and instrumentally with a great jazzy feel.
All-Star Cast November 22, 2008 This could be the best of all tribute albums because of the high level of recognizable names. Eric Clapton, Sting, The Who, Jon Bon Jovi, Hall and oates, George Michael, Sinead. It's probably an inside joke that Tina Turner does "The Bitch Is back." Sixteen cuts, and every one of them is someone from the hall of fame. Well, maybe not Joe Cockedr already, but that's just my humble opinion.
Spectacular October 2, 2008 This is more a bow to Bernie Taupin than Elton John. Elton's voice made them famous, but these artists mostly take Taupin's songs in new directions, and that is what is makes the album original and great. If you want some EJ's greatest hits album, go buy that. If you want interesting and excellent re-interpretations of Taupin's songwriting, buy this. The least interesting tracks are those that sound more like the original. The Kate Bush - reggae - Rocket Man ain't one of them. Many other fine performances.
