Finding the right house compilation can be a daunting task for the novice listener, as many of them bear little distinction. For me, I like my house soulful, percussion-heavy, and with hooks strong enough to sink the Titanic. By that standard, "Deep and Sexy 2" is a reasonable choice. This 77 minute compilation is a grab bag of soulful cuts that qualify as dance music to groove or chill to. The opener, Kaoru Inoue's "Auora," gets the mood right with its Spanish guitars and percussion, while the sax-flavored "Get it Right" by Forever is just downright seductive. Matty Heilbronn featuring Terrence Russell deliver a surprisingly effective cover of Stevie Wonder's "That Girl," which gets set to a stomping disco beat, and Solu Music's "Fade" works pretty well. When I bought this compilation last year, I liked it but found it a bit dull. But soon thereafter, it grew on me quickly. This is a great CD to listen to during those long drives, late night gatherings, or warm summer afternoons. Deep and sexy, indeed.

This is an outstanding compilation mixed by the eclectic Ron Trent. From beginning to end, Ron masterfully takes you into 'lose yourself' mode. I also have the mix done by Francois K, which is also excellent. This one just really makes me take off. It's like a trip to Brazil or Ibiza. You just start off relaxing on the beach, then moving to the cocktail hour, then onto the dancefloor. You're either doing a rhumba, salsa, or the 'real' samba. Do not short change yourself by passing this cd by. IT IS ALL THAT!!!
