Take care February 15, 2008 Great compilation, but.... it's PAL format and I couldn't watch it at home, just on PC changing the region set. I should've noticed that. Anyway
Later...with Jools Holland...Cool Britannia February 15, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
First off, yes...this dvd is region 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6. So if you live in America and don't have a region free dvd player...this won't work for you mate. It is also labled as "Playstation 2 Compatible" on the dvd but I have not bothered to see if it plays in it. If you want to buy a DVD player region free and cheap like I have, Philips has a nice one I paid about $72 for total with S/H that is sold by VCT ELECTRONICS and you can order dvd's from anywhere and be happy. You just have to set it to region 0 which another person explains in his review of it. It has this lable...

The DVD booklet aslo contains a good bit of info on each show the performances here are taken from and the bands. Below is an example...
Suded - So Young 04/06/1993 Series 2, Programme 4 with Soul Asylum, Fishbone, Bryan Ferry, Ed Alleyne-Johnson
It's hard to remember how barren young british rock was in the early 90's 'til Suede came along and ignited a generation. They were camp, deadly serious and they had a vison of Britian based on Bowie and the desperate yearnings of suburban kids going nowhere slowly. I'd produced a live session with them on The Late Show which turned into disaster; the sound mix got scrambled just before they went on air, Bernard's guitar drowned out everything and though he wound up the song clapping nervously, they clearly didn't enjoy the experience much. Here they were alongside Soul Asylum, a band breaking big on radio in the wake of grunge, and they were ready to be unashamedly foppish in the face of all that America angst. This is one of their early anthems and captures Brett and Bernard when they were still friends. Suede became regulars on the show as did Bernard, first with McAlmont and then solo but this is them back in the early days, taking on the world.
DVD also includes bonus features which are: *Interviews with Doves and Travis *Program your favourite 6 tracks to play in order
With the DVD and Booklet here in "Later...with Jools Holland presents Cool Britannia", this is a nice piece of British music in the 90's for not alot of money.
Would have been super good... February 10, 2007 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
if it played in my DVD player. Amazon has is listed as being region 1. When I received my disk, I looked at the back and it stated region 2,3,4,5. Where was the region 1 disk that I ordered???
Buyer beware. If you enjoy returning orders, this is the DVD for you!!! Enjoy.
Wake up America! March 21, 2005 12 out of 15 found this review helpful
This DVD is testament to the type of music the Brits have been pumping out while America lost it's musical footing after grunge and, well, for most of the past decade. Melody and great hooks, two components missing in most U.S. bands, dominate this disc. While a large majority of americans spit on OASIS and BLUR, they keep getting BLINK-182'd to death, shoved 3 DOORS DOWN or put to sleep @ DAVE MATTHEW'S shuffling feet (Not to mention STILL WAITING for the next Greatful Dead to pop up...sad!). Bands like ELBOW, RADIOHEAD, CHARLATANS, SUEDE, DOVES,BLUR...hell, ALL THE PERFORMANCES HERE ARE TOPS! If you want to expand your musical horizon, look no further. This is a must have!
