not ready for prime time June 12, 2009 One of my primary stations becomes a fringe station at the end of my commute. With FM I hear a little static, with HD it has an echo repeat echo that is much worse than a little static. I regret the $80 that I spent on this adapted, I'm not going to dig it out of the dash and send it back but I can't stand to use it on the way to work.
Works Perfect, No Problems! June 11, 2009 I picked the XM tuner over the Sirius tuner because I got a great XM annual subscription deal (thanks to another Amazon.com reviewer), plus I just admired XM's lineup a lot more than Sirius, but still I opted for the XM Everything Pak with The Best Of Sirius so I could get Howard Stern, NFL and Playboy radio, all great channels.
The GEX-P920XM tuner works great with my Avic F700bt Head Unit. Its basically plug and play, you just have to ground it, insert the antenna and connect the IP-Bus cable to the rear of your Pioneer HU. All the channels come in nice and clear and I have my antenna hidden in the rear deck window behind the subwoofer grille in my Lexus (thats INSIDE the car folks) with zero reception issues. The tuner is hidden in the well below the passenger's seat. The sound is on par with CD quality and integrates well with my entire car audio set up. I couldn't be happier, thanks to Pioneer and thanks to Amazon.com for the great price!
If you are looking for satellite radio in your car, I recommend a Pioneer HU and this tuner. Its a clean and neat alternative set up compared to the annoying separate Sirius XM external tuners that crowd your dashboard.
Tiny antenna magnet with great sound May 19, 2009 I bought this to go with my Avic F700BT Head Unit. It works great! Intergrates with no problems into the unit. Everything required to install the device into my vehicle was in the package. Surprisingly I receive tranmission even with my car in the garage. Very strong, tiny antenna that gets the job done.
Avid D3 + Pioneer GEX-P920XM XM Satellite Tuner May 17, 2009 This has been a great buy. Im glad that i was purchased this. I would highly suggest it. Simple instillation, and comes with everything needed to operate unit.
Works well, but it's huge April 26, 2009 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This product is pretty straightforward: it's easy to install and works very well. I'm happy with the sound quality and reception. Running the antenna to the roof is easy, and there's enough antenna wire included to get there.
However, I can't get over how large this gizmo actually is. For something with four connections, I was expecting smaller. Considering that portable units like the XpressRC and XMP3 have all of the same functions in a much smaller package, AND have built-in screens, this tuner seems gigantic.
The included mounting hardware isn't much to speak of; I can see it being used only if you're going to mount the device under a seat, directly to the floor of the vehicle. This appears to be the way Pioneer assumes you will do your installation, as the IP-Bus cable included is an unholy length (I didn't measure, but it's got to be longer than the antenna wire and ten times as thick). If you mount this product anywhere near your dash, you'll have quite an excess of wire to hide. I put mine in the glove compartment and called it a day.
Overall, this product is great. Just expect to spend a little time trying to figure out where to put it in your vehicle.
