| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Quiet, yet diligent progressive house DJ Chris Fortier has assembled a groovy, first-class progressive trance set. Hot, steamy, and with the distinct ghost of dub hanging over it (you won't hear actual riddims, but you'll feel the influence of them), Fortier's Bedrock sounds like a lazy Ibizan beach, surf crashing on the shore, as swimsuits over tanned skin dance and revel at sunset. Universal Agents set the tone with their reefer-coated waves, and the dirty gyrations of Harris's "Touched by Dub" underscore the set's sheer sexiness. Meanwhile, Deep C and Randall Jones evoke Underworld-style moodiness with "The One," and by the time Angel Moraes has stepped it up a notch higher for the grinding "Turn It Up," Fortier himself comes along to close with the sugar-throb trance of "Losing Wait." Fortier's produced a trance-tastic winner here, and Bedrock is fast shaping up to be the dance compilation label that matches Global Underground for quality. --Steffan Chirazi

A Strong Progressive Album by Fortier August 31, 2007 2002 was such a great year for its multitude of excellent electronica compilations. The third album under Digweed's Bedrock label is yet another 2002 release that is well above average in my opinion.
An album which embraces all that is progressive at the time. Bedrock 3 is loaded with smooth progressive tracks and tribal overtones throughout both discs. The icing on the cake is the tempo which varies ever so slightly and can satisfy a variety of listening situations or environments (dancing, driving, chilling, and so on).
As with the majority of two disc albums, disc 1 is toned down slightly in comparison to the second. Very decent track selection with a couple of average ones make up the set. Fortier's studio mixing is fantastic.
Nine times out of ten, I tend to favor disc 1 in a double set album. Not so for Bedrock 3. Disc 2 remains one of my top picks even today. How can you not like a set that begins with a loon calling? No seriously, the first five tracks are amazing. I could have done with better substitutes for both "At Night", and "Turn It Up" but no complaints for the other ten tracks. Again Fortier mixes this set beautifully.
Disc 1 gets 4/5 stars, and disc 2, 4.5/5 stars.
Sweaty, groovy, superlative prog-tech-house May 30, 2006 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
this is flat-out one of the very best mix CDs out there, and the fact that it's currently so cheap makes it doubly sweet. amazingly tight, bassy, sexy and deep house music. fortier inhabits that grey zone in between prog house, tech house, and techno that almost no one else seems to play in -- or at least, no one with this good an ear. the closest in style is probably steve lawler's more recent "lights out" sets with a bit of the dirt removed, digweed's los angeles set, quivver, and the less trancey side of max graham. get it!
Another solid one from Bedrock July 17, 2005 Chris Fortier has always been an American trance superstar, along with my favorite ambassadors banging-trancer Christopher Lawrence and lovely Sandra Collins. Fortier's trance classic "Trance America" still remains among my Top 10 and one of the gems from the trance sound that dominated the mid-90's and 2000. I was expecting a turn to house given the sound of the other Bedrock's: Digweed's glorious one and Jimmy Van M's easily worthy follow-up. This one has a very funky, dark sound to some solid prog, mixing, and sampling. The first disc is the better of the two, combining a driving, down-to-earth sound. Its analogue, I thought while listening to it the first couple times, is Sasha and Digweed's amazing Northern Exposure 3 sound - down, dirty, and driving house. The second disc highlights some great tracks like Amani vs Teapot's "Wise men speaks" and Deep C's "The one", generally without the minimal tracks of the first disc. I give this one four stars because I generally favor disc completeness in terms of atmosphere and ethos (think GU: Ibiza, PvD's 7 ways, Deep Dish Yoshiesque) over track highlight-dominated mixes (producer standouts to be fair!) in. While the Balance 007 he just released may not be one of the best Fortier releases, this definitely stands alongside Trance America as among his and America's best.
Great October 7, 2004 I admit ive never heard of this guy before but i picked it up due to the reviews and i really was great. The mixing is top class and the beats/grooves are great. Anyone into GU will appreciate this CD. Cmon people its like wat, 8 dollars used for 2 cds, its worth every penny.
